MGOCSM completes 100 years of service to the students of this church and beyond. (1908-2008). The centenary celebrations began with the Centum Glorious conference and the closing was maked by the Centum Gratia conference (December 26 - December 31, 2008). The Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church His Holiness Abuna Paulose was a chief guest of the Centum Gratia conference. Leaders from many of the sister churches also participated in the events. May the presence of the Lord guide the movement always.

The tonsuring of 5 of the 7 Bishop Designates to monastic orders (Remban) was held at Parumala Seminary on Thursday December 4th, 2008. The service of tonsuring of Bishop Designates to monastic orders was celebrated by His Holiness Moran Mar Baselios Marthoma Didymos I, the Catholicos of the East, His Beatitude Paulose Mar Milithios and other metropolitans of our church.

Malankara Sabha Maha Sammelanam was held on November 16, 2008 at the St.Thomas Nagar, Mar Baselios College Grounds, Kottayam and saw one of the biggest gatherings of the church loving orthodox Christians. The Rally was led by H.H, and was attended by bishops, bishop elects, clergy, students from Kottayam seminary, sisters from various institutions and people from each diocese (in alphabetical order). The speakers used the podium to crush false propaganda and myths that are spread by various groups and societies and used the occasion to educate the faithful of the true interpretations.

His Holiness Karekin II, the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians visited His Holiness Moran Mar Baselios Marthoma Didymus I, the Catholicos of the East and Malankara Metropolitan of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church from Nov 5th to Nov 8th, 2008 at Catholicate Palace, Kottayam. His Holiness the Catholicos of the East conferred the 'Order of St. Thomas', the highest ecclesiastical award of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, upon His Holiness Karekin II.

Rev. P.C. Yohannan Rembachen passed away on Saturday 13th September, 2008 at Pampady Dayara. The funeral of Very Rev. P. C. Yohannan Remban was conducted at Pampady Dayara today (Wednesday 17th Sept at 02.00 PM.) HH Baselios Mar Thoma Dydimus I led the prayers in presence of the Metropolitans from Orthodox Church and other denominations. May Rembachen's life of selfless service inspire us to continue His mission.

The Malankara Syrian Christian Association 2008 was held on September 11, 2008 at Pampakuda under the leadership of His Holiness Baselios Marthoma Didymus I Catholicos. Seven bishop designates were elected by the association. Yeldo Remban, Fr. Mathew Baby, Fr. John Panicker, Fr. Markose Joseph, Christophoros Remban, Fr. Stephen OIC and Fr. Alex Daniel were elected for the post of Episcopas. His Holiness Baselios Marthoma Didymus I Catholicos and members of the Holy Episcopal Synod offered incense at the tomb of the Late His Holiness Baselios Paulos I, the first Catholicos of the Malankara Orthodox Church at Cheriyapally, Pampakuda before inaguarating the association meeting.

As part of the 2008 Catholicate Day celebrations, an aggressive plan has been created to expand the social witness and reach out goals of the Malankara Orthodox Church. This includes House Building Project for the Poor families of the society of the Servants of the Cross (60 lakhs), Marriage Aid for the poor (10 lakhs), Sick Aid for the poor (10 lakhs), Education Aid for poor students (10 lakhs), Natural calamity Relief fund (30 lakhs) in addition to other projects.

H.G. Thomas Mar Makarios Thirumeni passed away on Feb 23rd 2008 after a tragic car accident in January 2008. He was a great visionary and exemplary shepherd of the Holy Church. The founder Metropolitan of the American Diocese, Thirumeni had endeared himself to the younger generation of the Dioceses in the West. Aided by the experience of being a professor in the Alma College, Michigan, this father could connect with the young people admirably. The Holy Church mourns at the loss of its High Priest. May our good Lord grant peace to his soul.

The year 2008 marks the navathy (90) year of our beloved H.G. Dr. Geevargheese Mar Osthathios thirumeni. Thirumeni was honoured by giving him the Sabha Ratnam by HH Moran Mar Baselios Marthoma Didymus I. The navathy year celebrations will continue till December 9, 2008. He continues to serve as the president of the mission board, keeping the focus of MOSC's mission in perspective with the greatest teaching of Jesus Christ. His values are unique. His concern for the poor is divine. His achievements to reach out are beyond words. He is priceless.
