REAP 2006 project was ICON Charities Inc's maiden attempt to reachout to the financially poor students to achieve the dream of higher
education by providing educational assistance for higher education. It was undertaken as a pilot program. The first phase of this project is focused
exclusively for the financially backward areas of Idukki.
We received 40 applications from 26 churches belonging to the Idduki Diocese. While each of the applicants was more than deserving, based on
the donations, we were able to provide education assistance to 23 students.
The REAP 2006 education assistance scholarships were handed over to the students by H.G. Augen Mar Dionysius, Metropolitan of Idduki diocese
on 07 December 2006 at Kattapana, Idduki, Kerala, India.
We received donations of $1289 towards REAP 2006 program from our well-wishers. The breakdown of the donation includes $1272 towards
this year's scholarship and $17 towards the operating cost of REAP for GRACE Charities.
The project was limited in scope to help us learn more about the challenges of operating the project and to adapt ourselves and make the project flawless.
