REAP is a charitable project aimed at reaching out to financially poor students. Our mission is to facilitate caring and sharing for financially poor students to achieve the dream of higher education by providing educational assistance. The first phase of this project is focused exclusively for the financially backward areas of Idukki. The project is designed as a joint venture of the ICON Charities Inc., Idukki diocese, GRACE (a charitable organization of Idukki diocese), individuals and churches across the world.

HOW IT WORKS

• The project is designed as a joint venture of the ICON charities, Idukki diocese, GRACE charity (a charitable organization of Idukki diocese), individuals and churches across the world.
• ICON charities will work with the Idukki diocesan Metropolitan, GRACE charity and the Vicars of the churches in Idukki to identify the most deserving financially backward students by accepting and reviewing the application invited for the ICON scholarship.
• ICON will publish the list of applicants on its website and forum. Donors (individuals/churches/organizations) can select a student and sponsor a student for a year or more.
• The scholarship amount is given to the selected student through the Idukki diocesan Metropolitan, GRACE and the Vicar of the church.
• After the student has completed the course and has found a job, he/she could voluntarily opt to pay back a part of the benefits to the GRACE education account so that more students can be provided assistance in the future.

WHAT IS ICON'S ROLE?

• ICON works with the people and charitable organizations in the financially backward areas and performs research and brings people and organizations together to come up with solutions for the issues faced by the poor students.
• ICON aims at creating awareness at a global level about the needs of these poor students based on the information collected as part of the research.
• ICON acts as the facilitator and connects the donor and the beneficiary.
• ICON acts as a channel and ensures the openness and accountability of the project at all levels.
• ICON is involved in the planning and execution of the project.

HOW IS REAP DIFFERENT FROM OTHER CHARITABLE PROJECTS? WHAT ARE THE SALIENT FEATURES?

This project is designed to be a 'Donor Driven' project rather than the 'Channel or Organization driven' project. The Donor has maximum flexibility to decide how the scholarship is operated.

This project is undertaken as a 100% IN-OUT charity Every dollar that you contribute reaches the beneficiary. The operating costs are not taken from your donations.

This project is designed to be a very open and transparent project. Everyone gets to see every transaction. The accounts will be published and audited by the public. The donor has the ability to contact the end beneficiary directly.

This project is designed to be a low budget project to accommodate maximum number of people to be involved in the project.

This project plans to follow the full charity life cycle and will invest heavily on awareness and follow-up. We plan to provide fast responses to queries people might have about the project.

This project is designed to be coordinated across the globe and will bring people from all walks of life.
